Holiday special starts tomorrow

Hey, all.

For the next seven days, there will be a new page posted every four hours. Six pages per day, in other words. The current story arc will probably conclude by the end of the week, and if not, it'll get damn close. There's gonna be a lot of content in a very short time, so I don't want anyone to accidentally skip a page and end up confused. Therefore, I highly recommend bookmarking the exact page you last read and NOT just the site's main page. I've increased the number of posts displayed on the main page from 4 to 6 in order to help compensate, but still. Please take care not to miss out.

By the way, if you enjoy the story, then please cast a vote for it at Top Web Fiction here. For those of you who don't already know, Top Web Fiction is one of the more popular ways in which people discover new web serials to read, so essentially, your votes there go toward helping TZK find new readers. It's a weekly system, so your vote disappears after seven days, which might sound annoying, but personally, I like that because it keeps the list fresh with active serials. Incidentally, it's also a good place to look if you want something new to read.

And concerning Top Web Fiction, I'm trying to get into the Top 3. It's pretty tough to do, but if we get there, I'll increase my monthly page quota by five. And if we get into the Top 2, then I'll increase it by ten. And hell, if we take first place, I'll just start posting twice a day permanently. Yeah. That's how much I'm NOT expecting that to happen. But hey. I'll fuckin' do twice a day. Don't think I won't. I started this story back in April, and I haven't missed a single friggin' day, so if you think I wouldn't keep my promise, then fuck you.

...

I didn't mean that. I got caught up in the moment. You're awesome. And super sexy. I want to make sweet, zombie love to you and have your terrifying, undead babies.

Also, I've got a question for everyone. How did you find the story? If you can remember and don't mind sharing, then please leave a comment below. A few of you have already told me, but I'm still very curious. That kind of information can help me figure out what's working and what's not and, potentially, if there's anything else I can do to get more exposure for the story.

Oh, and the new page for today is already up, in case you missed it.

  1. Oh, indeed. When I said "one of the more popular way," I meant comparatively so within the medium of weblit. Webcomics are INSANELY more popular than weblit. Really popular webcomics get hundreds of thousands of pageviews per day, and some even get millions. Weblit, on the other hand, very rarely breaks more than ten thousand pageviews a day.

As for me, right now, a good day is whenever I get more than 1k pageviews. In fact, I got 2k just the other day, and I thought that was awesome. Highest number I've ever gotten.

So yeah, topwebfiction is only "popular" in relative terms, but the votes there are still quite helpful to me.

"I want to make sweet, zombie love to you and have your terrifying, undead babies."
That….is probably the most romantic and terrifying thing I've ever read. XDD But I thought you were a guy…? XDD
On another note, I'm looking forward to more to read~! X3 Most of my webcomics/webfictions are taking a break for Christmas, so I admire your dedication Frosty. But make sure you get to enjoy Christmas too~! ^_^
Oh yeah, and I found this site by Pokéfarm.org a few months back. The art on the advertisement made me curious, so I clicked it, and I REGRET NOTHING!

I didn't really remember if it was a Project Wonderful ad or topwebfiction where I first saw the title. Reading the review at webfictionguide gave me the final push to start to read.

  5. I found it as an ad on the Homestuck page.

  7. Found the cknic through topwebfiction in the first place. Found that website after I finished worm. Voted for you and hope to see TZK in the top 3!

  10. I actually found the link from the Let's Play Archive one day. I havent seen it since, so I just got lucky! :D

  11. I found the story through a banner on the 1d4chan wiki. By the way, I am greatly enjoying the story so far, particulary the dialogues between Hector and Garovel.

  13. Heh, I know, don't worry. Next month will have a minimum of 45 pages, rather than the previous 40. That's BEFORE any donation bonuses are factored in, by the way. Wouldn't be much of a bonus otherwise, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ah, well, crud. Didn't see Snowtail the Khajiit's comment—I've still got a couple of pages to catch up on :P

  15. I found TZK through an ad on Pokefarm. :) I don't think I said that before...

  17. I actually found you on Top Web Fiction. By the way, you're currently at #4, trailing the #3 by only 27 votes. Considering I think you were in the 20's when I found you, the story's come a long way!

  18. I found TZK through topwebfiction which I found through Worm which I was directed to by my brother. Very enjoyable read.

  19. I found TZK through The New Devil web serial.

  20. First time commenting. I actually found if via someone in my skype group posting it in the group a few days ago. I've been reading pretty much constantly since.
This is a truly awesome and unique story; I've really enjoyed the world you've built here and the characters are interesting and deep. I wished Stoker could've hung around a bit though. I kinda liked him and his reaper. But meh, it's your story and I do understand character deaths are sometimes unavoidable. I really like the bold action and gore in your story. The whole ride has been a lot of fun so far and I've recommended the story to several friends.
    Thanks for sharing! :)

  21. I found an ad for this story on "A softer world". Been hooked for the past couple of weeks. Keep up the awesome work!!

  22. Dunno how I missed this amazing comment. GAH. Thank you, though. That is just awesome to hear, and I really appreciate it. <3

  26. Hi. I've been lurking on the site for a while and decided to comment on this page since it isn't directly story related and gives me an excuse to give complements. I've been reading TZK for the past... few months? I can't exactly remember when I started reading this... *looks through internet history* Ah! I started reading in May, forgot about it for a while, then got back to it early in July. I found this story *click* *click* *scroll* ...from an advertisement on a webcomic. I think. *was it from youtube? which of these sites did I find it from?* Anyway, I really love this story and both can't wait to catch up to current pages and don't want to because that will mean I'll have to wait for new pages. Keep writing your amazing story and don't die from overwork during a cliffhanger. People will die if that happens.

  27. Glad to have you, and thanks for reading. :)

  28. Hi. Found this from a project wonderful add on podiobooks. I've been enjoying it immensely (wasn't going to comment until I finished, but I read up to here in one sitting).

  29. found it on the Re:Monster batoto page. Just started reading today.

  30. Hello Mr. Frost,

I started reading this yesterday and I'm already dreading being caught up. It's amazing that you're doing this. Until reading the comments below, I'd never heard the term weblit. I'll be checking out others once I'm caught up on this one, so I'd like to thank you both for writing The Zombie Knight and for being my introduction to weblit.

A project wonderful ad on improbable island is what brought me here, by the way. At least one other person from that site has also started reading Zombie Knight, judging by their endorsement of it in the chat area. Once I'm caught up, I'll put in a good word too.

    -Amanda

p.s. Are there any web serials you recommend?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hah! I bet that comment you saw was directed towards me!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I already stated this Frost, but I thought I might as well go further in depth.

I was on japtem.com, either on the Ark page or the Arifureta page (don't remember which), and had just been expressing my disappointment with Arifureta when the person I was speaking to recommended this story due to its length, story, characters, and update pace. Since the person had a similar taste in literature (we both loved Ark and disliked Arifureta), I decided to try out the story. And man, it has been one of the best decisions I've made all year.

And it seems that since then, a few more japtem regulars have been migrating over. Other than me, there's about 4 others loving this beauty of a story.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It might have been, if so thanks for helping me find this amazing story.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Make that 5. I like Arifureta though, yet understand why you don't. Harem storylines are often rather.. generic. I found out about this story through a post on wuxia translations somewhere rather than Japtem though.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah, I've gotten a shitload of new readers recently, thanks entirely to a few different folks' sudden recommendations on various manga and light novel forums. You can actually see the sudden spike in growth on any of my ad boxes' pages on Project Wonderful, like here: http://www.projectwonderful.com/advertisehere.php?id=69038&type=5&tag=87272

's pretty fuckin' cool. Thanks, everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks. Recommendations are extremely appreciated. :)

I don't really read any web serials personally, but Web Fiction Guide is a site dedicated to helping you find new serials you might like. It's got a pretty huge assortment of stories listed.

This whole web serial thing was just something I decided to do on my own. It wasn't until like two months after I'd started that I realized there was actually a community for it, albeit a pretty small one.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow I didn't even know it was a harem. I don't think I got that far, I stopped somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd volume. I enjoyed quite a few things, but I just didn't like how the story was structured overall. While I can understand why others like it, it's just not my cup of tea

    ReplyDelete
  38. I hope your popularity keeps growing

    ReplyDelete
  39. The more, the merrier!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Like Blaed, I followed a recommendation someone left in a comment on japtem.com (I think it was on an Ark.chapter). I haven't finished reading, but I'm really liking the story so far. Thanks for writing and keep up the good work!

    ReplyDelete
  41. It seems imbnitbthe first one who said this, and I might have mentioned it before, but I came here from a Japtem link as well. I had no idea what to expect and just started reading, and I was hooked from the first page. I've been recommending it to some people as well, so ON YOUR KNEES AND THANK ME xD BUT seriously, I love every part of this story, and reading your comments is half the fun. I also didn't know about topwebfiction or any of the other sites I've found here in the comments, so I'd like to thank you for that as well. I really want to keep reading at this pace forever, but I'll catch up one day :| I'm not looking forward to that. Anyway, I have a lot more weblit on my list now, so exams be damned I'm gonna read :D

    ReplyDelete
  42. k i am a late starter but i will shear what i think :)
Well the plot is interesting but some times it is little though to read for people who's second language is English(well don't know if for others is true, but for me it is) because the words you use or sentence "Well. Color me impressed, Hector"

    ReplyDelete
  43. Seems Disqus thought this lovely comment was spam. Sorry about that. Thanks for reading.

On an unrelated note, wow, this page has gotten a shitload of comments. More than any other page on the whole site, I think. HEHE, NEAT.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I found it as an add on Omegle, looked tempting so I clicked. I've gotten this far since I found it the day before yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I found this story on Smackjeeves. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I found it as a banner on improbableisland.com a couple weeks ago. I really like the game, and the creator guy only does ads for websites he really likes, so I was curious and figured I'd give it a chance. Clearly it was a good decision.

I think someone linked this on one of the Japtem Ark chapters and I decided to randomly click it.
It was definitely worth the potential risk.

  48. ok, I voted 30 or so times.. I found TKZ as a banner ad on another comic that I was reading (collar 6). How I found collar 6 i believe was an ad on a social network similar to facebook but for kinky adults..

    ReplyDelete
  49. I found it on topwebfiction... but I forget how I found topwebfiction. Hardly anyone seems to use that site and it's not very well known. I think I just happened to come across it while looking to see if there were any other sites like topwebcomics... which has WAAAAAY more users... more than I would expect simply based on one having pretty pictures.

    Found it by Pkfm.

  51. I found this through amazon, I got the first "novel" on there at the beginning of this week and have been pretty much binge reading non stop. Can't wait to see where the story goes!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Top web fiction, where you're sitting at 3rd place :)

But yeah, doubt anyone is going to overtake Wildbow in 1st place unless he stops writing.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I read another web serial by drew Hayes and when I went to vote for it saw your story title...being a HUGE zombie fan I decided to give it a go! Glad I did :D

    ReplyDelete
  54. I was reading fiction on royalroadl, decided to comment, and the guy above me was recommending it to someone and I decided to check it out. Best decision ever.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I have to admit I am quite impressed with the story so far, very good development for characters. I hope future arcs do no rely on too much last minutes saves by growth in his power though... that would be way too predictable.

I will keep reading, I am quite hooked.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You're gonna love the next arcs.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I don't know if you check old posts.
But for me I found it through aho-updates.

I like lit. Especially light/web/novels (Japanese, Chinese, Korean...)
Was done reading my usual novels and tried to find more what let me find you.

Trying to read it slowly(tried to hold back my reading. Second day and this is to where I've read) . I can read all your releases within one or two days. But than I'll be without reading material. Thank you for lengthy story.

Hope you understood me, English is not my native language.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It isn't? I couldn't tell, and I'm a native speaker with a strong talent for spelling and grammar.
